Walvis Bay is renowned for its enormous sand dunes, so here’s your opportunity to ride a stunning KTM motorcycle on these towering dunes for an adrenaline-pumping adventure. Traverse steep sandy inclines up to 300m high, navigating narrow ridges and deep valleys between the dunes.

The views from the top of the dunes are breathtaking, with the Skeleton Coast stretching endlessly north and south.

However, what goes up must come down, and riding back down the dune face provides a thrilling ride as the bike slides and surfs through the cascading sand. Not to be missed!

SAND DUNES

The Damara people of Namibia have a long tradition of mining gems and minerals by hand. Working as individuals or small cooperatives, Damara miners use basic tools like picks, shovels, sieves, and metal detectors. They dig pits and tunnels by hand, carefully extracting rocks and mineral deposits. These are broken down and sifted through screens to reveal raw uncut gems.

It is labour-intensive work under a hot desert sun, often done outside formal mining regulations. But it provides subsistence income for the Damara people. They sell their rough finds to local dealers and people like you who are fortunate enough to be passing by!

Omaruru Game Lodge is our accommodation for one night where you will take part in a guided open-vehicle game drive within the reserve’s 3,400 hectares. Led by experienced rangers, drivers carefully navigate the terrain while spotting animals large and small. Herds of zebra, wildebeest, oryx, springbok, and giraffe roam the reserve. If we’re lucky, we may also see the “Big 5” – lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, and rhinos.

The highlight is stopping at the main watering hole where elephants and rhinos gather to drink and cool off, observed from a safe distance. The open-top vehicles allow exceptional viewing, photographs, and a thrilling yet educational safari experience surrounded by Namibia’s native wildlife

GAME DRIVE (safari)

The Himba are an indigenous ethnic group in Namibia. Himba women or children often sell handmade crafts and souvenirs from roadside stalls targeting passing tourists. These impromptu markets provide a glimpse into traditional Himba culture and products.

The stall is typically just a blanket laid out under an acacia or mopane tree for shade. The Himba saleswoman, distinguished by her elaborate hairstyle and traditional clothing, displays her wares. These include intricately beaded jewelry made from local materials like animal hide, ostrich eggshells, and seeds.

The Zeila is an abandoned fishing trawler that ran aground near Henties Bay along Namibia’s Skeleton Coast in 2008. The harsh Namib desert and pounding Atlantic surf have rapidly broken down the vessel over the years.
The striking image of the deteriorating ship against the desolate shore has made the Zeila popular for photographs. As the tides change, more of the wreck is exposed or swallowed by the sand in a constant battle with the sea. The Zeila serves as an eerie reminder of the untamed power along the Skeleton Coast that has caused countless shipwrecks throughout history.

Located around 30km inland from the coastal town of Swakopmund, the Moon Valley is an otherworldly landscape formed by the Swakop River cutting through the Namib Desert. This barren valley features towering rock formations, deep ravines, and craggy mountain slopes eroded into surreal shapes by the wind and rain over millions of years.

No prizes for guessing that the likeness to the moon is where the name comes from!

The Erongo Mountains are a prominent granite mountain range rising up to 2,300 meters (7,545 feet), this ancient mountain landscape contains some of the oldest formations in Africa, dated over 1 billion years old.

The Erongo region contains an exciting mix of rugged peaks, secluded valleys, open savannas, and winding passes. Wildlife like kudu, oryx, and leopard roam the mountain slopes. Strange rock formations occur throughout the area due to centuries of erosion wearing away at the granite. All just waiting for you to ride through.

RIDE THE BRANDBERG

The Brandberg Massif is a towering granite plateau in the Damaraland region of northwest Namibia. Riding an off-road motorcycle around this colossal mountain provides a challenging yet rewarding adventure. Trails wind through the Tsisab river valley at the base of the Brandberg, traversing gravel tracks, rocky terrain, and sand patches.

We navigate dry riverbeds and steep inclines as the granite cliffs of the Brandberg loom overhead. Further into the wilderness, the scenery changes to open savannahs dotted with unique rock formations.

The Messum Crater is a massive volcanic crater located in central Namibia near the Goboboseb Mountains. Shaped like a semicircle, it stretches 18-25 km wide, surrounded by a ring of rugged hills and mountains, offering spectacular riding.

This ancient crater dates back around 130 million years to the breakup of the Gondwana supercontinent, formed by immense volcanic explosions and collapsed calderas. The crater floor consists of open gravel plains dotted with inselbergs and dry riverbeds.

We'll be staying in carefully selected lodges and camps that combine luxury with the beauty of Namibia’s landscapes. Enjoy tasteful rooms, stunning views, and exceptional hospitality, along with gourmet dinners—the perfect way to relax and recharge after a day of thrilling adventure.

Rising dramatically above the arid plains of Namibia, Spitzkoppe is a towering granite inselberg located between Usakos and Swakopmund. This iconic landmark reaches nearly 1,800 meters (5,900 ft) above sea level at its highest point.

Sometimes called the “Matterhorn of Namibia”, Spitzkoppe’s most recognizable feature is its sharp, jagged peak that dominates the landscape. The mountain is actually a collection of barren granite peaks, rock arches, and outcrops clustered together in a remote area of the Namib Desert.

A Bushman village tour introduces the community’s way of life, from their simple huts made of sticks and grass to tools carved from bones and stones. Watching the men demonstrate hunting techniques with bows and arrows allows you to see ancient practices still used today. The women may perform traditional dances, chants, and songs passed down generations.

Visitors can witness healers passing their knowledge to apprentices, using plants from the desert. Though a vulnerable community, the Bushmen welcome visitors to help preserve their heritage.
