ABOUT UNTAMED AFRICA TOURS

The brands we work with:

We are committed to offering the most comprehensive motorcycle tours of Southern Africa. We are convinced that we have the best and highest quality motorcycle fleet available and strive to do business in a responsible manner.

We are registered in the Namibian Tourism Board, which is the Namibia Government agency responsible for bringing together both the private and public sector in implementing the national policy on tourism. Next to that we are also registered at TOSCO (Tourism Supporting Conservation Trust), which is the leading organisation in promoting responsible travel in Namibia, by bringing tourism into harmony with nature. Last but not least, Untamed is actively involved in the board of responsible motorbike association of Namibia, which takes action to implement rules and regulations. This to protect the industry like environment and conservation, but also to maintain a certain future for all bikers to be able to keep riding in Namibia and to distance ourselves from “destroying” the country we so love.

Not a lot of companies have this to their advantage and that’s exactly why Untamed Africa Tours stands out from the rest.

Even though Dirkie Baard is the founder of Untamed Africa Tours, his family is closely involved. His father Charl is involved with the support vehicle and anything mechanic on tour. He has many skills to add as he is a war veteran, a mechanic, a multiple business owner and a jack of all trades. Perfect for any unforeseen mishaps the tours throw at us. His mother Renè is helping out where she can, next to running the Goanikontes Oasis in the heart of the Moon Valley. She grew up in a family where all the brothers raced bikes so she is no stranger to the sport. And Dirkie’s brother, Phillipie, is also no slouch when it comes to racing, having one quad bike off road SA title to his name. He went to the Dakar Rally 3 times as a mechanic for Brian Baragwanath, and, when asked, is occasionally involved with the maintenance of the motorcycle fleet.

Don’t be fooled by the frown of dad, he is the funniest guy you’ll meet on our tours
