Itinerary
Day 1
We’ll start our journey in Walvis Bay, renowned for its lagoon with its pink flamingos and pelicans.
That evening, we’ll gather for a meet and greet dinner where you’ll get to know our crew, each other and receive a detailed overview of the tour itinerary.
Day 2
The day unfolds with a mesmerizing expedition across the enchanting pink salt flats situated south of Walvis Bay. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this area boasts a wealth of diverse bird species. Our journey then ventures inland, traversing through the core of the world’s oldest desert, revealing expansive landscapes adorned with oryx, zebras, and ostriches. Along the way, we conquer two significant mountain passes, the Kuiseb Canyon and Gaub Canyon. Our path ultimately guides us to the Solitaire Desert Lodge.
Day 3
The day begins with the ascent of another challenging mountain pass, Spreetshoogte. At its summit lies one of Namibia’s most iconic viewpoints, offering a breathtaking panorama of the vast landscape below. Take a moment to immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring scenery. A visit to the historic Maltahohe Hotel, dating back to 1907, is a must, providing a glimpse into Namibia’s rich history that adds an exciting dimension to our journey. Our final destination for the day is Helmeringhausen, a hidden gem in the desert. This miniature town consists only of a hotel, a small shop, and a gas pump.
Day 4
Today’s ride leads us alongside the impressive Fish River Canyon, the world’s second-largest canyon. A pit stop at the Canyon Road House awaits, showcasing its collection of vintage cars and bikes, adding a nostalgic touch to our journey.
Continuing southward, we reach the Orange River, marking the southernmost point of our adventure, bordering South Africa. The lodge, nestled along the riverbanks, offers a perfect retreat in the midst of the dry landscape, providing a serene setting to unwind and reflect on the day’s remarkable journey.
Day 5
Today grants a well-deserved rest, providing a range of activities for everyone’s preference.
For the adventurous souls, there’s the option of rafting to add a thrilling touch to the day. Alternatively, you can unwind by the pool, embark on a scenic hike, or catch up with the crew as they meticulously prepare the bikes for the upcoming ride.
Day 6
Embark on one of the most captivating rides this morning as the road winds alongside the Orange River. Along this scenic route, encounter both new and old diamond mines, where miners tirelessly seek the elusive jackpot. Upon parting ways with the river, our journey veers northward on a tarmac road leading to Aus. Despite its small size, Aus is a town steeped in history and character, offering a unique glimpse into Namibia’s rich tapestry.
Day 7
Our journey leads us directly west to the coastal town of Lüderitz, which also happens to be the first German settlement in what was then known as Southwest Africa. En route, we’re presented with the opportunity to encounter the Feral Horses of Garub. These horses have adeptly moved beyond their roles as working or breeding animals, showcasing a level of independence from humans, more or less.
Their ability to adapt and thrive in a challenging environment is truly captivating, highlighting their remarkable freedom. Upon reaching Lüderitz, we’ll delve into the exploration of key attractions such as Kolmanskop, the Dias Cross, and the historic old town. Following this, our journey brings us back to Aus before the strong winds blow us off our bikes.
Day 8
It’s time to set our course northward once again, traversing some of the most scenic gravel roads in Namibia.
The expansive landscapes, blending sand, dunes, and mountains, offer an unparalleled day of riding. Amidst this vastness, you’ll catch sight of wildlife such as Oryx, ostriches, and springbok, prompting contemplation on how these creatures endure in such a challenging environment.
Before reaching our final destination, a pause at Sesriem Canyon provides a moment to appreciate the geological wonders. The day concludes at the Sossusvlei Desert Quiver Lodge, offering a unique and tranquil setting in the heart of the desert.
Day 9
Begin your day with an early start, venturing on a 4×4 guided drive into the Namib-Naukluft Park. This excursion promises awe-inspiring highlights such as the iconic Deadvlei, the colossal red sand dunes—among them the towering Big Daddy, one of the world’s highest—and the expansive salt and clay flats. After an adventure-filled morning, the remainder of the afternoon is yours to savour, offering an opportunity to relax and absorb the breath-taking landscapes that define this unique corner of Namibia.
Day 10
The gravel road guides us through Solitaire and retraces our route through the two canyons we navigated on the first day, leading us back to Walvis Bay. This leg of the journey, distinct from our initial path, offers plenty of enjoyable and thrilling sections for you to relish on your bike. As the day concludes, the evening marks the final moments we share together as a group, providing an opportunity to reflect on the incredible experiences and camaraderie forged throughout the adventure.
